FACETS HIRES CAUS ATTORNEY FOR ITS CAUSE

David Jinks, founder and Director of the newly formed international
organization, the "Formal Action Committee for Extra-Terrestrial Studies"
(FACETS) announced this morning that he has retained the services of Arizona
attorney Peter A. Gersten, to prepare a legal strategy for obtaining
photographs of the Cydonia area of Mars and their immediate release to the
public.

According to Jinks, "The Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) is presently, in orbit,
imaging Mars. It would be a great injustice, possibly even misfeasance, if
NASA does not pictorially explore the entire Cydonia region and immediately
and unconditionally release the results. Only then can we have a fair and
open analysis by any party interested in determining whether there is
evidence of artificiality on Mars"

FACETS recently sponsored the Internet petition "formally requesting" NASA to
re-image Cydonia this Sunday, May 7th, when the MGS will be in perfect
position over Cydonia. "There are two issues" stated Jinks. "The first
involves persuading NASA to re-photograph a specific area of Mars. The second
is posting the photographs on the Internet as soon as possible." Jinks
personally believes that Michael Malin of Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS),
the man deciding which areas of Mars are photographed, if only out of
scientific curiosity, has re-imaged Cydonia but has not released the results.

The Petition garnered almost 3,000 signatures in less than a week and will
now be E-mailed to Senator John McCain, NASA Administrator Dan Goldin and Malin.
FACETS will also be sponsoring a similar petition in another week for the
next scheduled direct fly over by the MGS sometime in June or July. "If NASA
continues to ignore our requests, I have authorized attorney Peter Gersten to
take whatever legal steps are necessary to require NASA and Malin to
photograph and release the evidence" emphasized Jinks. When asked if that
would involve a federal lawsuit, Jinks replied: "We will do whatever is
necessary. This opportunity must not be lost."

Mr. Gersten, director of Citizens Against UFO Secrecy, an Arizona UFO
activist group, was unavailable for comment.
